Flowers

People keep asking me about flowers. What kind of flowers am I going to use for the wedding? I honestly am not sure. It's not because I haven't thought about it. I've thought about it a lot.

I do know that I will use silk/faux flowers. I just don't think it's worth it to pay SO much extra for the real thing... not when I don't really care that much about the flowers. I know my priorities are probably a lot different than many brides, but I know what's important to me and I know what isn't. Flowers just aren't that important to me.

I originally wanted hydrangeas. I love them. They're beautiful flowers. However, I originally wanted the bridesmaids to carry cream/ivory colored flowers and for me to have a blue bouquet. Well, it's hard to find hydrangeas in a blue that I like... even the fake kind.

So, I started trying to rethink what I wanted. I did some searches to find out what kinds/colors of flowers would look good with a navy bridesmaid dress. I got responses from across the board. To my surprise, I got a lot of hot pink, yellow, and orange answers. The yellow really piqued my interest. I thought about doing all daisies and sunflowers. I like that idea.

That brings me to my next idea. I absolutely love the idea of pomanders. They're so cute! I have thought about having my bridesmaids carry them. When I was tinkering with the idea of sunflowers and daisies, I found a pomander that I liked:
I think it's adorable. :) However, when I found that pomander, I found this one:

So, so, so cute! I can just picture it with a navy satin ribbon (instead of the cream/ivory ribbon). I'm just not sure how it will look to have my bridesmaids carry pomanders instead of regular bouquets. I did a search and found a few photos that actually looked really cute. Here's one:

I don't know what I'm going to do. I'll have to make a decision in the near future. I'll let you know when I do!

Oh! If you're interested in where I've been looking for faux flowers, I've mostly been using these 2 websites (they've got good reviews!):

  1. we did fake flowers for our wedding arch and had them turned into a wreath by a family friend after she read an article about someone else doing it with dried wedding flowers. If you decide to go the fake flower route I thought I'd pass the idea on since we thought it was a neat idea (our wreath is hanging in our living room so we can enjoy it daily).

  2. That is a fantastic idea! If I do decide on faux flowers, I'll definitely give that a try!
